THese are some tips to prevent house fires;
  • Create and Practice a Fire Escape Plan
  • Install smoke alarms respecting the local fire code
  • Test the smoke alarms once a month
  • Replace smoke alarms after 10 years

If a fire occurs in your home, GET out, Stay out and call for help. Never go back inside

Difference between a smoke dectector and smoke alarm;
  • The smoke detector will detect products of combustion but will relay the signal to a main alarm system, he won't make an alarm noise himself.
  • The smoke alarm will sensor the presence of smoke and will trigger a powerful sound alarm to notice the occupants.

  • For maximum protection, a carbon monoxide alarm should be installed in each sleeping area aswell as on every floor of the home
  • Verify that everyone in the home knows the difference between the alarm sound of a co alarm and a smoke alarm
  • Its recommended to install co alarms on low (outlet) and high locations (co/smoke alarm on ceiling) in your house since the gas has almost the same density as air
  • Test co alarms at the same time as your smoke alarms wich is every month. change the batteries also at the same occasion as smoke alarms that being  every clock change. To replace the unit follow the manufacturer recommendations (5-7 years)
